I sold my mk3 VR6 a while ago and convinced a friend to sell me his mk2. I'd always liked it and new he'd bought it at 70000 miles, when he sold it to me it was about to hit 130000,
fully polybushed
straight through exhaust system with standard backbox
cheap coilovers
front and rear strutbraces
grooved and drilled discs with braided lines and yellow stuff pads
I collected it with half the interior in boot, in need of a really good clean and a couple of dents in the nearside alloys. Gave it a bit of attention with an as new set of seats as i could find, which happened to come from a later model, and removed the carpet for a clean.
Bought another set of bbs to replace the two damaged ones and leave me with a spare, which it didnt have. I got the clay kit and the compound out to try and revive the paint. Theres damage to the drivers door and it ideally needs replacing, paint on the bonnet and drivers wing. If i can get a replacement silver door it would be a big improvement.
It needs some new seatbelts as they're covered in resin, similar to the seats (as he was a boat builder.) Theres plenty to keep me busy for a while.
Future intentions are to replace the engine with a more powerful unit, i'd like to keep it 8v. I'd then have the oppurtunity to repaint the bay whilst the lumps out
heres some pics up til now

Not updated for a while, ive started a winter refurb. New cage and an interior strip out, complimented by new wheels, de arched and a fair bit of paint.
Began by fitting the cage and then getting on with checking the fitment of the rm's. I also cracked on with painting a new lower valance. I now need to repair the dented arches and fit/ paint my new doors wings and bonnet and then respray both rear quarter panels
heres some pics

SOLD, its offical, awsome car mate, never thought silver was a good colour for the mk2 but you have changed my mind, looking good, keep up the good work mate.

That looks cool as
-
very nice mk2 mate.!
the red wheels really suited it when they were on!
-
Saw this on vortex, very cool car  I have to jump on the red wheels bandwagon too though
-
Nice example, love those red wheels when you had them..... Mind you, new ones look good too.
You're doing a grand job straightening her out but what's with that dodgy boot lid decal!

Looks like a heckenblade (spelling might be wrong). It's a rare enough mk2 part that carries on the light colour pattern across the boot lid. It was cool at the time but is a bit marmite nowadays. Either way they are getting pretty rare. Mate of mine had some super rare one on his beat up mk2 van that was worth more than the car itself

The red and polished rims looked sick and really brought out the detail in the design and yeah, the rear boot decal is definitely a personal thing. Oh so 80's...

love the car keep up the good work and i also never used to like silver mk2's but i am a changed man and the red and polished wheels wer a great touch but afraid not a fan of the bot decal.
