Title: suspension tops
Post by: dellenty69 on 12 June 2010, 00:27
with my last car i had to use the old OEM strut tops and rubbers on the new suspension (JOM/hot tuning, race land, all the same, manufactured in same factory!)

i just got my self a set of hot tuning coil overs, and i have fitted them with the original rubbers again.

im just curious as to if you lot use the rubbers, and if so what order you put them on.

iv got: (starting at the bottom)

silver alloy suspension top
little bearing
rubber cup
flat 21mm nut
car body
upper suspension cup
21mm securing suspension nut

this sound right to you?
its all on there fine, although i haven't set the ride height yet (need to clear arb etc)

i have 235/35/19 r8 wheels and the coil overs at the lowest setting. looks lovely, but at this point in time its a lovely looking paper weight.

thanks
james

unlkess you have uprated arb or adjustable drop links you will have issues.

That sounds the right order to me mate, however i would for peice of mind put new strut tops and bearings on

I'd agree with hulmie  for what the parts cost it would be wise to fit some new ones i had all the top mount bushes/bearing changed when i had my coillies fitted as i knew that at nearly 60+k the originals would be getting past their best

They will do, I have 225x 18 and I can get a Tuzla pack between the adjuster and tyre! All good though as that gap never changes. You'll get raped on decent tyres

Excelentx they where replaced on last service, along with rear Adel bushes. So arnt ancient. Greased them back up and there good as new.

Yeah I would of had issues, but I have 5mm spacers on front.
I have heard talks of the r32 ARB helping with issues along with adjustable drop links.
