It's not worth it because not only do you need all these parts everyone has listed you need the time and tools to do it or the money to pay for it to be done. And for less you could sell the 1.6 and buy a 1.8T.

If doing it yourself then it may be worth it. Otherwise may turn out much more than selling yours and buying a 1.8T car.

Building what you can buy is never worth it.

If you are intending to fit a 1.8t and dvla register it/insured 1.8t = Sky high insurance as its a heavily modified 1.6. Its worse than just buying a 1.8t.

Basically the only way its worth the conversion is if your not registering it and you/mate is doing the work for you.

Easy to do though after first one and if you need any help/advise i did mine and have removed refitted my engine 4 times plus friends also VW tech so helped me. PM or 07923222024

Jrd,

I hate people who choose to make a point on that, its like switching to economy light bulbs, 1 person doesnt change the world. Do you think it will change anything when thousands of other people are doing opposite and the consequence is all on the owner/driver and doesnt effect you. I stated it as an option that the OP might have been doing, i arent going to jump down his throat if he is because its done all the time. So yeahhh NICEEEEEEEE !

PS. Economy lights bulbs are also sh!t as they only work when youve left the room.
