Title: GT wheel offset
Post by: golfmk4owner on 10 June 2010, 17:42
I have 18" alloys on my GT 130 but they wont clear the brake caliper without spacers (the GTs must have bigger front brakes than normal mk4's)... what offset would i need on a set of 18s to fit without spacers... the ones i have are ET38, id rather not have spacers on my car now to be honest.
thanks guys

Mine are ET35 and are fine. ET38 should be fine too

See this i cant understand... my ET38s wont clear my brake caliper without spacers... so would i need to go lower, such as et35, or higher such as et 42, for more caliper clearance?

Run a 3mm spacer which would leave you with a 35 offset.

The lower the offset, the further the wheel pokes out. The higher the offset the further inside the arch. Lower ET is better and I didn't think 38 was too bad...
