Title: Quick response needed please chaps!
Post by: Ninja on 09 June 2010, 19:17
Right,

I've spotted an ABSOLUTE MINTER of a MK2 golf. The guy wants £400 for it. It's a G reg, red, immaculate, 3 door big bumper golf.

Now, the problem is;

No MOT - Failed on handbrake cable and all 4 break lines perished.

Head gasket gone.

How much would it cost me to get the above work carried out?

He says if he got the work carried out, he'd want £1000 for it.

When I say mint by the way, it's immaculate body wise.

Its still a bargain if you can be arsed to get the work done. Or like JP said, stick a different engine in it.

You could get a new copper brake kit for about £100
Head gasket? Depends if any valves had been bent conrods in good shape?
General head skim rebuild can vary from £250-£450 depends whats required!
Personally if the bottom end is still in good nick, just drop a recon head you could pick one up for about £100 but still would require the head to be skimed! Offer £200 as its a non runner simple as!

With a bit of luck and DIY you could do it for £300 worst case £450.

Someone here can help I'm sure, The G2 is super easy to work on :smiley:
