Can anyone suggest a decent exhaust system for a Mk3 GTi 8V? I'm not particularly fussed about extra bhp, and definitely don't want a loud exhaust or one with a huge tailpipe! I foolishly went to Kwik-fit cos my back box had fallen off, and what I have at the minute just sounds awful! Don't recommend Kwik-fit to anyone. Any suggestions welcome. Also, I live near Reading, and if anyone can suggest a decent exhaust place that fits as well it would be appreciated. Cheers.

Kwik Fit should be renamed sh!te Fit. the exhausts they sell are complete pony and in all honesty aren't really that cheap anymore. Like most things in life you get what you pay for. Get a sportier exhaust in stainless and you'll get a lifetime warranty for as long as you own the car which cant be bad.
I would go for Sebring or Jetex, they are made in sweden and if anything like a saab or volvo will last for bloody ages. Sweden has very harsh winters so everything is made to last.

At least i don't reply with "nice one mate" just to get my post total nice and high, I mean anyone might think you know what your going on about.

Besides Kwik fit wouldn't take me as I didnt have enough spots.

I've come across Magnex - are they any good? They seem pricey enough!

I did see a magnex on a mk2 a couple of years ago and it made a horrible noise >:( I would recommend going for jetex or sebring.

I have got a Milltek cat back exhaust fitted to my 8v, looks great with the twin tailpipes & has a nice exhaust note without being too loud, Missus didn't even notice 8)
