Title: VCDS - MPH Display Problem
Post by: VWKev on 05 June 2010, 22:03
I've coded a few things today but one thats giving me a problem is the coding to change from KPH to MPH.

I changed the part in VCDS itself from UK to Rest Of The World, I then changed in the MFD for UK MPH, then turned off the 2nd Display.

What happens is that my MPH stays at 1mph, doesnt change at all. Even when the car is resting its at 1mph.

Any ideas what I've done wrong or what I havent changed and should have ?

Ahh...thet's where I went wrong.
So ROW is Inst 1st, then enable in the MFD.
I'll try again.

Mine was stuck at 20 MPH when I first tried.

Did you change this with the MFD options or VAG-COM?

Yep thats it. Also you might get caught out with other 'Speed' showing as I have posted below....

This is your last max speed travelled....

After you enable it in the MFD, scroll down again till you come to this...

that part was within the MFD, I dont think it shows until you do the VCDS bit first.

I like the kph reading on the MFD. I have never been able to accept stupid antiquated Imperial units. We use litres to fill our cars and mph and miles for our speed and distance. No wonder most of the population in this country is becoming innumerate and schizophrenic!

PS: Present company excluded, ofcourse.

With this 'adjustment' you can show both MPH and KPH on the MFD at the same time, if you like.

Now that's really very good. Thanks.
Any chance of you upgrading your RCD to an RNS? DAB is BAD as you might get lost without Sat Nav. Unless of course you use a Tom Tom or the like. Sooo mini-cab!
You know you want it!
Take care.

mini-cab  I like it.

I've wanted an RNS for yonks, but I love my DAB, why VW have not got it in the RNS is beyond me, I know the RNS is not made by Blaupunkt like the RCD but still, it really should be in the RNS. Until that happens, I'll have to make do with the RCD, its still really very good.

I don't mind getting lost, it means I can drive the GTI for longer

Yes, it's very odd they don't offer it. Would be the icing on the cake. The FM is very good on the RCD 310 anyway and there is little or no interference. Compared to my Honda, in which FM and CD was total sh!t, it is a revelation.

Kev that's not your last max speed travelled. The golf doesn't show this.
That is the average speed overall, hence the number 2.
