I am the oldest person in our family so not an option for me. Mine did go down though when I added my Missus to the policy even though she only has a provisional licence.

Mate I know that feeling. I'm paying €3000 at the moment for my insurance! Someone rear ended my mk5 and decided to sue me over it, so I've lost my no claims bonus AND been hit with a massive accident loading for being under 25. Luckily all reports point to the other driver for fault so it's reckoned that I'll have my no claims bonus reinstated and have any excess I've paid refunded to me. That said, ever when my insurance is back to normal I'll still be paying about €1500 for a 1.4 car, even with my no claims. No other choice but to grin and bear it saly
-
Well my insurance its pretty expensive now but I cant moan about that as its my own fault.
-
i have a mk3 1.6 GL
the cheapest i could get was just under 5,000!
i now pay 93 a month, due to them making a mistake and telling me the wrong quote so i said id ring back, rang back they quoted me like nearly 5k i was like hold on the guy before said 93 a month they said oh he made a mistake they had to go speak to the teamleaders and had to give me the 93 a month otherwise its bad customer service ;)
-
I believe Cable did declare it Wayne, But even i don't know how he's getting away with £1200 living in London!
His insurance is CRIMINAL!
I pay £1700 on my 16v and i'm 19! But with zero no claims and a faulted claim :P Oh and mods declared
So not "too" bad to be fair!
-
I pay around 850 for an 8v GTi at 27, with 1 year no claims and no accidents in the last 5 years, although it was quite a bit more last year with 2 write offs and 3 points :)

I'm started to benefit from being only 21. :afro: If I did renew my policy my GL would be £450 next year instead of £650, or I can get a 8v GTi for £700, or a 16v GTi for £750.
-
22, vr6 just got new insurance for £680, im happy with that

What the f**k!?
Personally would have brought a newer slower car! I can get insurance on a Supercharged S2000 for that much, and im under 21 so most places won't even quote for a normal S2000!
(Not that i've been looking at charged S2000's :lipsrsealed:)
-
21 with a 16v pay about £500 on insurance but my first quote was aroun £2500

That's bloddy cheap. I know that the insurance gets A LOT cheaper, when you turn 21, but that is still really good for a VR6 and fully comp.
