It reads ecu fault codes - tells you of stored fault codes and problems with the car.

Just plug it in above the ashtray

lol the code reader tells you what needs fixing

It doesn't fix the faults    If that was the case we'd all be master mechanics and save millions on garage bills a year

Make a list of the codes, do some research to find out what may be involved in putting them right and then decide if its worth haggling

its a risk mate i would say. personally i would not get one unless its got full service history preferable dealer history. So then at least you know the ccar has been taken care off and what has been done like timimng belt, water pump etc etc which are prone to go at 100k mark

but with any car give good once over and go with your gut feeling

thats so true first instincts play a big part, ideally i want one with service history if not FSH, theres on selling for 3000 72k fsh, all black with few mods, i offered him 2600 he isnt budging and im not paying anything more just incase it needs something after i buy it ?

what you reckon how much are they worth on 2000 plate with them specs?

cheers mate

I'd rather have a well looked after one with 120000 than a raped example with 40000 that has been treated like an orphan. A well maintained engine will see you well. I'd want £3000+ for my 1998 AGU or an m3 if I decided to sell it. Although I don't think I could. Just shop around instead of impulse buying. If you are humming and harring about one with no service history, that's how the next buyer will be thinking when you come to sell it.......
