Title: Insurance after Remap
Post by: The Meister on 03 June 2010, 11:17
E-Maps are tweaking my Mk6 GTI with Oettinger 'Stage One' on 1 July and I found out yesterday that my current insurance company (Privilege) no longer cover engine mods

So I spent a few hours yesterday researching cover and had some crazy quotes from so called 'specialist' mod friendly brokers.  Adrian Flux quoted me £880 full comp with Aviva.  Greenlight were better at £597.

This was bad news, so I decided to call those 'quote me happy' people directly and, guess what, they will cover me for £334 fully comp with protected no claims, legal cover, etc and £350 excess.  This is less than I paid Privilege when I got the car and with a lower excess   So how much commission are Adrian Flux taking

Better news still is that Privilege will fully reimburse me for premium pro rata without an admin fee, as it is due to their underwriting changes that I can no longer insure the car with them.

The insurance market for modified ECU's seems to be tightening up, so try Aviva!  Also, don't even think about non-disclosure.

PS. I am 44 so I guess lower risk  :smug:
