Title: Bridgestone - is this a fair price?
Post by: Enforcer on 02 June 2010, 18:18
Hello,

My car is due to arrive tomorrow, but apparently some issue with damage to one of the front tyres. As a result I'm getting two new bridgestone tyres on the front (18 inch alloys). The cost is £90 per tyre balanced and fitted.

Is that a fair price as I'll be picking up the tab?

I would check myself but I don't have tyre sizes :(

Thanks

If they are the Bridgestone Potenza RE050 225/40/18 ones (those came as standard on some cars) then that's a very good deal.

Thanks lads, makes me feel better - the garage is sourcing it so must be getting it at trade prices.

Cheap as chips at that price, but I'd leave some cash spare to replace your fillings in a few weeks...

I ran them for a year and while the wear rate was slow and the grip excellent, the ride quality was shocking and the tyre roar was deafening.

Go for Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta instead, they're a similar price :afro:

Most importantly why are you having to pay ANYTHING if you dont have the car yet?

Thanks lads

I got the car today and it had the bridgestones on - found the car journey VERY quiet and smooth - I think given my current ride is a 996 with M030 suspension I've gotten used to "VERY FIRM" rides - so the golf feels like luxury!!!

Have to say it's a great car to drive

Sorry to explain, I only paid on pick up of the car - not before...however I was committing to the expenditure on the proviso the car was fine.

That is a very very very good price mate !, got to say though i cant wait till mine are worn at the front so i can buy some new rubber, i though they were good throughout the winter and in the rain but they do struggle to grip hard in the dry !
