Title: 2005 golf gti ESP light on!
Post by: syncross on 02 June 2010, 11:44
Hi all...Just joined up and hoping for some help/input into a recent problem with my golf!!! ESP light has just come on and system is now non operational... i have been to garage and am informed that many fault codes have come up and it might be ABS unit, although this is working fine.
Car is just out of dealer warranty (great!) and am hoping that i may just be looking at a switch or sensor issue. Any input greatly appreciated.......dont have any problems like this with my MK2 gti!!!!!! lot to be said for keeping it simple.
Cheers, CHRIS

Those "many fault codes" are what you need to find out.

Each one can be looked up to find out the reason for the code. Some of them will be there because of others.

Find out what the codes are, and fix the problems. Or just take it to a garage/dealer.

Is the ABS system still working?

The fault code now identified is 01435 Brake Pressure Sender -1-G201
Any ideas anyone.
Cheers in advance.

Many thanks to all for your input......the links supplied are exactly the same situation as mine, so it sounds like the ABS unit sensor that is fooked(still works tho).....unfortunately for me i have a 2005 gti and am a good few months out of warranty so i dont know if i would have any luck with dealer and so may have to fork out some serious funds. I,m a huge Golf fan and am delighted with the car but wonder if this should have been a recall and rectification issue for vw to address.
I will have a chat with VW dealer and inform of any progress.
Once again, many thanks for all input.
CHRIS.

hi mate, it's definately an abs unit that's required. I'm a vw mechanic to trade and lost count of the amount of abs units we have changed on the mk5 golf. I've seen me do 2 or 3 a day recently. The brake pressure sender 1 is built into the abs unit itself and obviously can't be fitted seperately
