I would 100000% get it done by the VW Dealer. Although Awesome will do a good job, it comes down to when you sell it, people always want to see the VW stamp.

Got to be VW Neil

We thought you had died of RS. Steve and I were going to write an obituary!
I was about to PM you too. But that would be useless if you were dead!
Glad you are alive and advising very correctly!

Hehe, I very rarely post at weekend, normally always out working on the car.

Kev: It's been the 'Silence of the Lambs' without you!
Getting my LEDs + Ed30 knob installed this week. Will post pics.

Will the VW dealership service the car even it is re-mapped? :undecided:

Just being a very contrary Mary, hun.
We should all buy shares in BP on Friday. Their share price is going to tumble. Then sell them in 2 months when they stop the leak and we make a good killing!
Back to topic . Have you the £250 Service Pack? Was it on offer when you bought the car?
-
I wouldn't take my car to the local dealer (1 mile away) as when they did a simple warranty job they couldn't even follow a simple instruction of not washing car car (no doubt with their stony sponges!). So the supplying dealer got a call, 25 odd miles away, never bothered to call me back. So local VW indy dealer did my 1st service (the ones who mapped it), VW stamp in the book, no probs.
I know I sound like a moaner but really, are my expectations that high?

You are 100% in order and not a moaner or someone with high expectations.
If the buggers cannot provide a decent level of service and return the car washed without swirl marks, then they can sod off.
I am lucky with VW, West London. The level of care and attention puts Honda to shame.
So far, for the bits an' pieces I have asked for, they have been superb.

I alway's put a large cardboard sign on the dash saying "Please do not wash this car, thank you" everytime mine goes into main dealer.
Have to agree when you do go to sell your car it will sell easier with main dealer stamps in the book but i prefer my local indy specialist .

Hose and vacuum (carpets only and nothing else touched on the inside) but no soaping or drying. No physical contact with the bodywork or wheels.
The toughseal enables the muck to just slip off with ease.

I heard on the radio that BP lost something like 16billion off the price of the Co today, get your chq books out

Off topic, but might buy shares the price of a GTi. NOT!

Neil: Main dealer stamp for the service and any 'recommended' work you get back from VW gets done at an Indy garage or Awesome.
VW stamp in the book, FTW!

My first service is due next month. Just out of curiosity Neil what sort of quotes did you get from the various places?
It would be good to have a starting point to work from before I start ringing round. I know I'll have to use somewhere outside Leeds 'cos they're c***.

I'll do that R32 and take it to Donny where I work and where I bought it from. Assuming they'll match it of course!!!!

I got my car on 15 March but decided to purchase the £250 service pack last week and was able to do so, apparently you can do this up to 3 months after getting your car.
-
I'm surprised that the prices differ; is there no 'fixed price' service available?
Ava

There may or may not be fixed price servicing. Certainly, with the wife's 93 I ring various Saab dealers then ring my preferred dealer with last. They always match the cheapest price to keep my business.
And it's really quite amazing the difference between prices for a supposed "standard" full or interim service. So it's always worth ringing round.
Interestingly, I also just had to have a new air con condenser fitted on her car as a tone had gone through it. My preferred Saab dealer were as cheap as any of the specialist independents I rang!!! But then again, they at least seem to know what they're doing with Saabs as opposed to the majority of VW dealers I've dealt with over the years who don't have a clue!!!!

Booked car in for its 1st service today at VW Stealers £110 for oil/filter as thats all that is needed, didn't try anywhere else for a comparison as i was near the stealers and needed some wiperblades for the Transporter anyway, be nice to know what others have been quoted :embarassed:

With or without VAT?
Good price from a main dealer. More in London: £120 + VAT! Though I get a good discount from my dealer as they like me.
Hope they are also putting a new oil plug.
