Title: Exhaust sleeves?
Post by: Deefadog on 14 December 2004, 13:14
Ok, currently got a Scorpion system on the car, I want to swap the back box (which i have) for a standard back box.

I went to get it fitted the other day and there was about 4mm diamater difference and they said it would not fit!

So can i get a sleeve to put over the pipe to make the connection? or use exhaust tape? or any other suggestions would be most appreciated

cheers

there is a sleeve you can get from VAG for the downpipe to centre section but i dont know if it'll work on the back box as the join is on a curve

why are u changing the scorpion backbox?

Changing the back box a it's too loud, got a 7 week old baby who seems to take a dislike to it :) (no idea why) lol

So it' got to go for the moment!!

I'd try 'powerflow', they should be able to sort something out for you.

Contacted powerflow, they said yeah we got what you need! but the nearest one is in Gloucester! which is likw 200 miles from me :( and for some reason they said it was impossible for me to purchase one and have it sent to me????  Weird

Anyone live near them? Who would be willing to post it on to me? I will cover cost and a little extra for the incovenience!

contact there headoffice. They always seem more eager to help than a grease monkey in a workshop. Im sure if you phone up and complain they will have one sent to you.

They wont do it because they have to measure what you need and custom fabricate it. If they guess it or go by measurements that you took incorrectly and the sleeve they make doesn't fit, they lose money.

That's true! They need the car there, i did tell them i would not hold them resposible, but no go! o well.

Would the thick exhuast tape work, wrap it aropund a few times untill the difference was made?

Try you local exhaust place and ask them for bits of the old exhausts that they've replaced, you should be able to find a piece that fits then any competent welder can fix you up.

I have had some joy from powerflow! I rang them up at glouster branch and they said fax the dimensions and they will make one up! No price as yet though!

The other guy I was talking to was from their head office who is obviously unsure about waht can be done :)
