how long should it normally take the idle speed to return to normal after a throttle body clean on an agu? Probably covered about 30 miles since it was done but the idle is getting higher, now goes up to about 1500rpm when sat it traffic?
-
prob a couple of hundered miles but after i cleaned mine it idled high for about 2-3 minutes then dropped to about 900rpm
-
Mine also took a couple of minutes and runs at 900 rpm.
-
Doesn't sound good then for mine!
-
have you run an adaptation via VAG COM on the throttle body?
-
it was looked at when the car was in the garage on friday, apparently vag-com just kept kicking them out
-
it needs an adaptation really. Was it a VW garage that couldn't get VAG COM to work?
-
No, was my local vag place jbs. Although i've read mixed opinions on whether the agu can be reset or not with vag-com?
-
yes it can, I have just done mine. It's mixed opinions on whether it does it with the door open trick. It makes the right noises though so give it a go
Put your car into 2nd stage ignition with the door already open but DO NOT START IT. You'll hear the throttle motor buzzing. Leave everything alone (especially the throttle pedal) until the buzzing stops and see how you go after that.
-
Trouble is i don't have a vag-com, so means handing the garage another £50+vat
-
the method above is how to do it without VAG COM
-
Ahh, penny's dropped . Will have a try later
-
I did that with mine after reading it on here and mine was fine virtually straight away. Door open for me by the way
-
no joy for me. Left the drivers door open turned key in ignition, but not turned over, waited for it to stop buzzing then started it up. Didn't work for me
-
Does it not only work for the first time after cleaning ?? You have started the car since and confused it. Try disconnecting the plug and leave it half an hour or so then reconnect the plug and try the door open and ignition on thing. Should solve the problem then Mate. Good Luck
-
will give it a go mate, although it seems to be steadying itself a bit now
-
i had the exact same problem mate, drove for about 200 odd miles and the idle was still around 1.5k.
i tried everything, in the end i just disconnected the battery, left it for about an hour, reconnected and everything was fine! now idling about 900
