has anybody had or would anybody consider fibreglass wings, are they any good? found a paitr of unused ones for my mk1 for 130 notes?
-
They are ok but can take a lot of work to fit.

And they never look as flat as metal panels once painted.

Imagine the weight loss though , i need to loose some weight from the front of mine.

Well i am desperate for a NS wing...and not so desperate for a bonnet... there was a guy making them to order on the bay which were quite a lot cheaper than others i have found on the net...he's vanished but someone is selling a set. the maker had good feedback when he was around. i dont think the holes are there for the bolts so at least the alignment is down to you and not the person that made them.... i also dont think a great amount of weight would be lost with wings but defo on the bonnet, it weighs a tonne! I have just found a good wing on the bay now so am hoping that i win it... if i see a fibreglass bonnet though i may be tempted! at least it wont rust... if i buy either i will have to get stickers saying DON'T LEAN ON MY CAR! (you'll fall through it!)

you'd have to be pretty anal about weight loss though, a stock metal front wing aint exactly heavy. could probably loose the same amount of weight by taking a large dump pre race / trackday.
