i know the golf has 170 bhp against 140 but i imagine the sorocco been better to drive ,handle?
your thoughts please?

you can get a scirroco with a 170 cr TDI engine the same as the GTD.

Don't take any notice of the Gti mob on here they will drive you mad tell you to get the gti. I own a golf Gtd 170 dsg and it's a class motor miles better than the Rocco , test drive them both and you will see for yourself, but you got to get dsg only IMHO !! :smug:

Yes the Scirocco Gt 170Tdi is the same engine as a Golf GTD. Depends on what you want from a car fella as to what you want to buy. Golf is roomier, Scirocco is sportier. Take a test drive and see. 3dr GTD is £23,600 - Scirocco £23,440. Slightly more kit in the Scirocco, but based on the Mk5 / Eos Interior.. Suck em and see :wink:

Do the new Rocs not have the MK6 interior now? I know the Roc R has it, and I read about it being a change - but I'm not sure if it actually happened?

Its got the upgraded Steering Wheel, Air Con unit and white dials on the dash. Not exactly a new dash interior..

Being one of the few people that has owned both, I would say that for me the Golf is a better car but it depends on your requirements.
Test both and get the one that lights your fire.
Beware though, Scirocco has long low doors so getting in and out of it in the supermarket car park etc is more difficult, Rocco isn't made in Wolfsburg and built to a lower spec (e.g. old school manual bonnet support strut) and you could fit an extra car in the huge gap VW have left between the tyres and arches so they only look OK lowered IMO. Contrary to what you might think, I would say the golf is a better handling car, Rocco suffers from understeer and torquesteer (on the GT2.0 that I had) and is no way as composed as the golf.

I have never owned a Scirocco, but I've testdriven a couple and when it first came out I was sorely tempted. However, I didn't get one because (a) they all look the same (no difference between the base model and the top of the range), (b) the dash was lifted straight from the Eos (which I owned at the time and didn't like much) and (c) while I'm not into lowered cars, I agree with gossa that the Scirocco rides way too high.
They are nice to drive, but not as nice as the Golf, IMHO.
