Title: First time Gti MkV owner

Hi all.

I have just paid the deposit on a MkV Gti with DSG gear box.

I cannot wait for the day i collect the keys!!

I just wanted to know if there were any issues i should look for with the car as i have heard that the DSG mechatronic boxes are a little temperamental.  It is and 08 model and has done 22000 miles.

Should be ok at that milage, juts get it properly serviced & change the gearbox oil every 40k

The mechs unit isn't mileage related, unless say you've gone past 70k miles then it should be OK. 20K miles isn't enough to know. Check for jerky set offs from 1st gear. But you're still under warranty so wouldn't be a deal breaker if it was written down pre-sale.
