Title: MK6 Golf GTD Crash!
Post by: KennyGTI on 21 May 2010, 19:31
Just seen this on another site what a mess.

In an accident in Wolfsburg on Wednesday evening, four young men 18 to 20 years, died. They rode in a brand new golf.

A fifth victim is in danger, police said. The 19-year-old driver had the 170 horsepower car, which was registered to his father, only a few hours earlier, picked up in person at the Wolfsburg plant. After he had driven with friends, with over 100 miles an hour through his hometown.

The vehicle was a function of the roadway, crashed into a traffic island, flung against a tree and was ripped from a second in two parts.

"The first responders offered a grim picture," said police spokesman Thomas Figge. None of the five passengers had put on a seatbelt. All were catapulted from the vehicle and thrown into the street.

One of the men died at the accident scene, the other succumbed shortly afterwards in the nearby hospitals due to their severe injuries.

Currently, the bodies are examined for traces of alcohol, drugs and tablets.

Doubt having the seatbelts on or not would have made much of a difference with that sort of damage

Being a very sensitive sort of chap, I am quite distraught at seeing that terrible picture of untold tragedy.
At least there seems to be an undamaged Monza Shadow. I wonder if they sold it to pay for part of the costs.

boy racers never learn!  this kind of thing happens all the time.  no car could save u.  it just proves that a golf gti/gtd is a beast..... u have to tame the beast, or it'll succumb you..

that can't be a gtd, they don't go quick enough to cause that kind of damage in an accident

Here's a thought.

If I understand it correctly the GTD crashed into a tree.

A GTD provides increased mpg and decreased co2. This has been attributed to being beneficial for the environment. Being good for the environment increases the abundance of wildlife.

On the other hand the GTI has decreased mpg and increased co2. This is bad for the environment. This kills trees.

Moral of the story?

If the guy was in a GTI then the tree would have been killed by co2 and therefore not in existence to ruin his car
