Who says hot weather is bad for your cars performance, had a little play on my way home from work hitting 21psi every time i floored it and holding at 20psi till i either ran out of road or speed getting a bit naughty(70mph btw).
The car feels awesome
-
lucky you, I peaked 12 and held 10

That's gotta be a boost leak.
On my way to a show last week,it popped a couple of flames out of the exhaust, std vw back box flaming

Check the altitude correction with vagcom,
Because if the altitude sensor reading wrong the ecu can offset the load/ms, reducing the boost or adding the boost. I want to find out at what atmospheric pressure there is not offset. then all realted maps can be mapped out to one value, the maps am looking at only scale to just under 1000mb
I have noticed a few cars with this sensor causing boost issues, so if I can apply a patch in the map it will sort this unseen hardware issues out.

Without sounding like a thick northern monkey, how do i find out the altitude correction?
-
I also want to know this without sounding like a southern fairy
Just off out to fit my drop links, gonna have a root around the back of the engine while it's up on axle stands

It will be in one if the blocks in vagcom, aint got a clue of the top of my head, but I will be logging two AGUs tomorrow so I will let you know.

Did you manage to get a load/ms of you car?
Nick
-
not managed it yet but I'll have to take the car for a test drive when the drop links are done so I'm sure that will involve a full throttle run or two up the dual carriageway
-
couldn't be arsed to do the drop links, the logs were much more important

any good?

back up again
-
lol funny you say that.
Now mine is spot on 25psi and holding 21 to 5.8k
AGU
It is abit colder down here to day and now only hitting 15psi. It is ment to be real hot tomorrow it will be the real test!
-
spot on again today... so bloody hot.
The car loves real hot weather! :undecided:
-
mine felt like a snail again
-
Do you all actually boot your turbo cars when it's hot!? Your crazy! Mine hasn't been over 3000rpm this weekend, even the evening air is too hot Imo...

Hell yes,fmic ftw
-
Surely it'll still be too hot as the air hitting the intercooler is warm as the sun or do you have a mist squirter? What brand if at all is your fmic as the Forge one is nearly £650 which is a lot. Do you know if you can run a charge cooler instead of a conventional intercooler on a golf?

any good?
throttle angle should be around 82% for full load?
Nick
-
ah ha, therein may lay my problem...
-
charge cooler would be easy, as long as you have the room for the rad (which you do) you could do it.
With ref to the throttle angle, can someone post up a run off their Golf to confirm? It makes sense though...
-
what do i need to go into and i will do it tonight
-
cheers fella, just log block 1 for a full throttle run, should give the same readings as the log I posted
-
anyone?
-
doing it tonight..

nice one mate, much appreciated
full throttle looks to be an angle of 84.2 degrees then, not my 42...
I'll try a throttle alignment later and a few other bits to see if it cures it. Will start another topic to see if anyone can shed some light on what it could be...fr
-
could the altitude sensor be my problem then anyone? NICK?? http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=155729.0 (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=155729.0)

what does the altitude sensor do and where is it?

its right hand side of engine bay at the back it clips onto the bulk head, im guessing it picks up the the height you are at to calculate the pressure, thats a rough guess.
-
ah always wondered what that thing was
-
Email me some logs of the requested and actual load,
-
sounds good and nick i shall be saving those pennies an making tht trip to see you hopefully sooner rather thn later
-
mines now hitting the same figure
-
running 18-19psi now but think I've still got a leak somewhere so that needs a bit more investigating

Getting there then, What have you done to get to 19psi? Can you do a log of the requested and actual load, this will show if requested boost is being met.#

I adjusted my throttle cable
I wedged it open full throttle on the pedal and had a look inside the throttle housing and the butterfly was only open half way. Pulled my cable tight and clipped it there, give it a quick run with VAG COM to adapt it and voila!
The cable is on it's last legs though so ordered another. Will get some logs this week and pop them up. I can find the block for actual load on VAG COM, any idea what block I should be logging for requested? (AGU)

Good lad, you can have a job soon..lol
Actual and spec blocks 025, do some cvs logs and a a real time graph with long 4th gear pull, then take a snap shot of the screen and save it in mspaint. By taking thw snap shot you will get a visual picture of what the boost and N75DC% is doing.

excellent thanks mate, will do them this week sometime
