Anyone get any ideas what the average stripped mk2 and twin axle trailer weigh?
-
My fat-assed Syncro weighed 1060kg in 8V spec. Might weight another 10-20kg now it's got more valves.
Trailer weighs approx 400kg, but it's a lightweight one.
-
Is your trailer a home made one or brought?

I've been looking at these Brian James ones, but it doesn't tell you the weight of the trailer.

Fountain C100.
IIRC the Brian james weights are in the brochures online somewhere.
-
brain james - now theres some common assed trailer

Indeed.
I am SO wishing I took that legendary photo in December. He keeps promising it, but never delivers!

Found out the clubman 1350 weighs about 450kg, so with the mk2 on there, should be able to get a mk 4 GT TDI to tow it

What's the maximum gross train weight on the G4 TDI then?
-
1400kg braked, 600kg unbraked, reackon i will have about 100kg to play with, passat or A4 estate which are the other cars i was looking at are 1600kg, so not much more.
-
how about a t4 van then

I'd love to but i don't think my wife would like to use a T4 van to get to and from work. Maybe i should work on her

Passat 4Motion TDI is 2500kg braked a la handbook.
It's basically an A6, but in a Burton suit. Mostly chosen for its ability as a tow vehicle.
T4 is 2000kg braked.
I would have thought with fat blokes, fuel and tools etc you'll be over and if you're over, you're over - can't argue it in court, you just have to bend over.
