Title: help and advise on products and methods please
Post by: chol_gti on 20 May 2010, 23:08
hi, im looking to give my car a good detailing, whats the stuff i should be useing without spending lots of money? it will be on a black car, so if you can point me in the right direction of the best products and a rough price on them would appriciate it. clay + lube polish wax etc etc

also what is the difference between wax and polish? is it that the polish cleans the paintwork and the wax seals and protects??
thanks

the different grades are for different levels of contamination, a car with light contamination will need a fine or ultra fine clay and a car with heavy contamination ie lots of tar spots, heavily bonded contaminants, fall out, grit, overspray etc will need a more aggressive clay to remove them.

if you havent clayed before id recomend a fine or ultra fine clay, aggressive clay in the wrong hands will lead to marring and re-scratching of the surface.

Have a look at either Dodo Juice Gentle Grey or Meguiar's Clay Kit, either will be perfectly suited to you.
