Right here is a tough thread perhaps...
I want us all to bring an item on their car that they love. It can be something you have done yourself - either a modification or a retrofit - or it can be something that came on the car. It may be to do with the driving, performance, economy, build quality, technology etc etc.
The only rule is that it is only one item (per person).
(also lets not argue over what folk say - I just want an idea of what each individual likes the most about his or her car)
Good luck with making the call...
I crumbled guys. My original choice lasted a day and I changed my mind. My favourite bit is the steering wheel. I love the chunky feel, the perfect materials and the incredible quality of the item.

To start us off I will have to say my DSG gearbox. Some will disagree with this but I love how the modes offer real difference in personality and how smooth it is. I also enjoy the LC included with it and it gives the sensation of much more exotic machinery (I'm thinking lamborghini gallardo) in such a normal car  I also really like the paddles and the stick as a normal automatic can feel dead but the paddles really bring some enjoyment to driving.
Are we talking mk6 gti only ?

I think we shall try to limit it to mk6 variants. At least within the mk 6 forum.
The steering wheel
How true this is. The materials on the steering wheel are perfect and I love the feel of it. One of my favourite things is getting into the car after not driving it for a while (or after driving another car) and feeling the chunky solid wheel. You really know you are in a good car - sorry make that a great car!
In fact I am sorely tempted to change my own decision... yep I think I will
The noise it makes - does that count ?
It certainly does

The Dynaudio equipment

The steering wheel
It's one of the worst features for me...give me a round wheel any day - looks great, but is awful for quick driving.

Is it round? Like a wheel should be?
There was nothing wrong with the non flat-bottomed VAG sports steering wheels. Porsche's steering wheels are also good to use - and also round!

Yep. Great weight and feel, whilst perfectly round. Makes the VW one seem a little skinny and weak.
-
Can't decide. :undecided:
ACC or remap....
OK, remap it is.

The lights that come on when you open the car, they are under the wing mirrors

just when it's been washed and polished to a gloss- finishing work handy on a nice walm day, then walking into the car park, seeing the car, and thinking wow!
(black with monza shadows). Fing love it (and it's my wife’s car so it’s a case of when I get drive it lol!)
Have become obsessed with keeping the chrome exhaust end sparkling – at least she get’s to drive a shiny GTI
-
The looks it gets from virtually everyone I drive past.

I like this post the best - 100% agree

Don't care if it is only one item, I love everything about the car, it is all so well geared up to the driver experience down to the comfort of the seats, the position of the steering wheel the ACC (if you have it) the sound system (dynaudio - fab) and the look of the car, it's not overstated like some fast hatches it is neat and tidy and in Pearl black looks pretty awesome.
Gizzy
PS If I had to pick one thing overall it would have to be the ACC this is a superb addition to the GTI which just improves the overall effect.

I'm struggling with the steering wheel position...I can't get the damn thing close enough for my liking. I want the seat back far enough to get comfy, but find the wheel 1-2" too far away for 'my' ideal'.
So I want a 2" longer steering column and a round steering wheel please Mr VW.

I'm not sure if you know but the steering wheel goes in and out (to get closer to you) as well as up and down
-
Mine is a MK5 but still going to post. Best thing i did was change the 17'' Monza to Edition 30 alloys.

Oh yes, I'm aware of that.
It's fully out...just not out far enough.

What is?
The silly fashionable flat bottomed steering wheel?
Great for posing...not too great for proper driving.
Are VWs interior designers Italian, or Apes?
Either way, they must have short legs and long arms.
-
I am tall with long legs and arms and hence sit further back.
There is definitely not enough reach with the steering wheel. Even Auto Car remarked on this. Just can't get into a comfortable driving position which is mildly disappointing. Two to three inches more reach and it would be perfect.
One small point: The steering wheel diameter could also be a touch less.
As for the flat bottom part, well the steering wheel is no longer a wheel anymore in the true sense!

On Topic.....Everything!!!!! But to pick one that hasn't been mentioned. USB connectivity via the media in.
