could be oil pump or just a blockage

best idea is to drain it and run a flush thru it, and hope it clears it

Had exactly the same a couple of weeks on my gf's mk2 driver. The throttle stuck open after a carb change and it revved the arse off it well into the red a few times. After that the oil buzzer kept coming on so I was fearing the worst. After being left overnight it hasn't happened again in two weeks. Can only assume I sucked up some sh!t into the pump inlet which has since cleared. Still gonna change the oil just incase though.
