Title: 8V sensor

I have a 91 8v GTI , on the right hand side of the head there is a brown sensor with a wire connected up to it , mine has oil leaking through it which is in turn finding it's way onto the drive.

Is this called a "knock Sensor"and is it best to get a genuine one straight from a VW dealership ?

no its the low oil pressure switch, 0.3bar. i think vw will sell you a blue one instead now, brown one discontinued :)
