Probably as they are too busy churning out the lower Golf models, they only allocate a few GTI's to go to production every now and then.

Have a look at this thread  (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=135785.0)to give you an idea of folks waiting times.

Thanks, I'll speak to the dealer and maybe get in when delivered.....i feel I'll have a big list for him by the time it comes.

At £500 that's second hand not from the dealer but still comes with a warranty.
There is a group buy on just now.

I got mine from the guy selling them, with no issues.

Hey thanks again for the link. Would you know of anyone in the Southeast (Essex area) who would fit such items? I'd rather have a good job done rather than me butcher it....n gaffer tape isn't a good look

No sorry. But it's really childs play.
Have a look in the maintenance + info section of the MK6 section for a how to. Literally a 10 minute job, if that!!

It is all plug and play.

Well, it's only been two weeks wait so far.....with the mindset that it'll be worth it in the end....and I was told 5 months max...although dealer did try and sell a 6mth old R line for £8K more....tempted but just too rich for me

Hi

Mortygt140 is the man for the RNS510, he has the latest edition with the LED screen for £600 and he or SteveP would probably fit it for you.

It is an awesome bit of kit and so much less than the stealers would charge you.  I have just had the rear LEDs retrofitted + the RNS510 and a reversing camera the whole lot came to £1400 + fitting costs which will remain private between myself and Darren, who did a first class job.

Don't buy from anyone else these guys are top dogs.  Am1w would no doubt be in full agreement as both have done work on his GTI.

I ordered mine in June and it was given a build scheduled week for 34 and popped in today to see as thats last week in august and it has confirmed at that week, so I am well happy sooner than I thought.

There is a black GTD in my dealers with luxury, RCD510, winter pack and rear LED's

In answer to the original question... Because the car is so good.

VW like to keep production levels sustainable, it takes a long time for a car manufacturer (and it's suppliers) to adjust to market demand.
The GTI is the flagship of the Golf range. The Golf is the best selling car in Europe at the moment. VW make the GTI in occasional stints at their mega factory in Wolfsburg.

VW don't want it to become common and cheap like the ST or VXR. Snobbish or clever?
It works and has done for decades.

There's a long wait for all models still. A colleage has been waiting for a Polo SEL for months and months and still no sign of it.

I ordered mine on Friday and was told 12 -16 weeks, i hink it depends on if the dealer has any allocations. I tried another dealer who said i'd be looking at January!

I don't get the wait time issue, I was told I had to wait 3 months for mine and I grumbled about it but then it arrived in just under 8 weeks. I ordered at the end of February. I ordered from Alan Day in Hampstead, London and I was given a build week the moment the order was placed and it only ever came down from that date. Maybe I was just lucky?

See this sort of thread all the time! If you want your car to depreciate slowly, you will like to wait for delivery cause it means demand outstrip supply. It is bad news for everyone and you if you can get your car as easy as buying a diesel focus! Look on the bright side, it is always nice to have that sort of cash sitting in your bank account a bit longer and you will like your car more when you get it!

At the top end of the market, some countries already stop taking orders for the F458. In UK, the wait is 3 years. If you are one of those lucky ones who you manage to get one this year, expect £50000 profit if you sell!

I dont think thats correct. LED's do come as std on the gti... but not the darker ones found on the Golf R

Forgive me for asking, but your signature shows you don't have a GTi. It's a GT, I presume. Still a very good car.

Yeah that is what I said. They don't come as an option as the OP asked but do now come as standard.
I wouldn't imagine it would be the smoked ones as on the Golf R as they would no doubt want to keep some exclusiveness to that model.

EDIT: Sorry never noticed the Golf R bit in the OP's question. DOH

Yes the finance offered on the GT compared to the GTI was far too good to knock back at the time.

HI, are golf R L.e.d.s optional for the gti?

You will probably get the cherry red LEDs as standard, if you want the smoked R type ones that many of us on this forum have, you will need 10 posts then you can contact SteveP and see if you can be added to his list for the next round. If there is anyone else wanting the R LEDs.

Thanks guys.

Went to park it today and looked for a space with no one else around it....parked but didn't notice the kerb in front was a bit higher than the underside then heard a scrape argh!.....luckily nothing noticable though...phew

I noticed the front has a long overhang and is very low too. I court mine putting it on my 4post ramp. Even the mk1 when it was 50mm lowered many years ago (now oem height) did not catch, so i was a bit  when the mk6 touched.

Actually I have just bought a brand new one from a dealer, no waiting. They are not easy to find, I have been searching for about two months, but have been offered two in the last 10 days.

Spec is almost exactly what I wanted, although I probably would have had standard 17" wheels and factory bluetooth. As it is, cruise is being retro fitted (dealer) bluetooth will be my current headset, retro fit factory unit discussed elswhere on the site (expensive and not sure about fitting/coding) or the VW touch (seems OK, just didn't want an 'add-on' screen and would like to have used the MFSW buttons.

Search hard and they plus some low mileage demo's are around.

Well done. It just shows its worth being patient and shopping arround. 18" monza's a bonus. I honestly wouln't have the car if I had to have the standard 17's.

I'm enjoyong the excitement of the wait but march does seem a long way away!

Can I borrow yours? Lol!
