Title: 106 hp driver
Post by: maximous on 08 December 2004, 16:35
Went to power engineering today with a few friends and took the mk2 driver, (the 16v isn?t ready yet) and to my surprise it came out with 106 hp and 109 lbs of torque, sorted.

Advanced timing is when you change the timing of the spark pattern; you can do this on drivers by taking out the dizzy and rotating it to the correct degree. When the VWs come off the assembly line they are set to a ?safe? limit. I advanced the timing until it started ?pinking? then wound it back a bit until all was good. My description is a bit vague, you really need someone to show you how, but it?s quite simple.

The operator was really shocked and said if I put a full stainless system on it and tweaked the fueling a bit ill be very close to GTI standards
