standard brakes are poo,
can anyone please tell me which upgrade is the best ,p.s dont want to spend alot. im a scot :undecided:

Gonna keep an eye on this thread as i'm gonna look to do this also.
Deffo need to sort out better brakes if you gonna have more power.
-
What ever you do don't go for EBC green stuff pads.
EBC Red stuff pads are good but take quite along time to warm up.

Audi TT 312 mm discs and calipers ..may be possible to pick up the calipers from a breakers..i have been looking to upgrade mine for a while just never got around to it. I am going down the Porsche Boxter calipers route i think.

For the 312mm calipers don;t you need something else to go with them? I forgot what their called but they come off the VR6 I think? I could be horribly wrong though

Also with the 312mm brakes does that mean you have to have a certain type of wheel for clearance purposes?

Indeed carriers :) I have 18" wheels so no worries about clearance, my m8 is an ex vw mechanic and now works for a Porsche garage he does all the work on my car and seems to think he would have no problems getting and fitting them :) but would cost me about £400 ish if i remember rightly.

was looking to upgrade from standard ones.

Really depends on your budget
Do you want to keep the existing size discs or go bigger??
Standard = 288mm
312mm upgrade
334mm R32 brakes
Or you can go and run Porchse calipers etc etc
If you want to kepe to standard discs have a look at Euro Car Parts - think they do ATE discs and pads which are OEM equipment
Or buy some plain discs and get uprated pads from Pagid, EBC etc etc
Most tend to upgrade to the 312mm's as all you need are the carriers; pads are the same but obviously the discs are bigger

Ouch is that about the going rate?
Suppose it's worth it if it means it can stop after the extra power from tweeks like remap and so on...
