I will not buy another new VW there quality is crap they are cutting too many corners.
And the polo before PDI and even after the panel fit and paint is just so shockingly bad.

snoopy, itake it the golf aint living up to expectations?  i gotta say that mk2 and 3 build quality was sooo much better than now...they even fit handles that flake the rubber is you use them...seen too many interior trim look shocking...the plus side?  VW have remembered their hot hatch pedigree.

My mk6 has its good and bad points. Its bad points are its Paint and some strainge design choices they made (one of them is a foam insert in the door pillar that is a rust trap waiting to happen, as it soaks up water better than a sponge).......
But the polos i have seen after knowing my cars weak spots, the polos are even worse. I was with a mate of mine who use to PDI fiats upto around last year and now works for Alfa and he was took aback by what VW were letting out the factory when we got to see polo's coming off the transporter at a local dealer and even after PDI what the dealer was showing in the showroom.  (and he is use to fiats QC  )

I was going to recomend a polo to a family member to replace her Ibiza but im not anymore.

I completely disagree. We had a Ibiza 52 plate, fittings were peeling off, ride was harsh, components kept braking.

Now have a 2nd hand 59 Polo, and it's fantastic. One of the best new cars I have driven.

Let's hope it's better to drive than a Clio 200, but I doubt it.

No idea what fitting your talking about. Ride harsh yes i agree on the mk4. 'components kept braking' no idea what your ones you meen but most are the same as that generations polo so it would be no better or worse than the polo of that ilk.
VW use softer touch interior plastics to fool people into a quality feel but thats it, the 'magic build quality' is a myth that died years ago.

Thats the thing i think your gauging it from how it drives, im looking at it through an engineers eyes. At the build, fit and finish quality. If its the new shape i would be suprised if the bonnet does fit correctly and have correct even shut lines all round plus there is probably no body coloured paint going to the edges of the top corner of the wings next to the a-pillar in that seam. If it does its the first car in around 30 polos i have seen so far that is right.
