Post by: northeast_gti-t on 13 May 2010, 17:08
Well after fitting my replacement lower chargepipe/pancakepipe boost hose the car seems really strong now and boosting as it should had a nice run both to and from work so about an hour ago i hooked it up to vag com to see if i had the code i cleared it the other weekend so was expecting it to be there and it was
so cleared and been out for abit of a run got it back on vag com for a re-check and.................................

No 17705..........

Hope its gone for good!
Same thing here, I couldn't prevent it coming back.  I flung numerous bits and pieces at it, but I think the final solution for me was a new 90° boost elbow at top of turbo (previously had oil vapour on top of turbo silencer).

Fitting a new standard one was a pig, so I guess a super solid aftermarket one will be a right pain!

I had same problem. pressure test confirmed that the new pipe also leaked! so what I did was trim the stainless pipe's lugs back so that the o ring seats further back into the pipe. then gently bend the lower lugs to clamp the pipe ho place and prevent it from moving out. be careful though, only trim a bit off at a time because you can't stu material back on the pipe. problem solved, providing there's no leaks anywhere else ho the pipework. plus it still looks standard

I think the problem you get with this sort of code is you possibly force the leak around the system so the only way to cure it in one go is to replace EVERYTHING

And learn to multi-quote  its not difficult!

I guess it's only a matter of time before that new pipe & seal fails though

I bought a brand new one a few years back, it's still sat at home as I never fitted it

Did an AGU pipe instead with a Mikalor holding it tight, it's never coming off again *fingers crossed*
