hi all, my rear wiper has stopped working, checked fuse found to be ok. bought a cheap second hand wiper motor off ebay thinking it must be that but still no good! grrr! any ideas guys? and as for getting that rear panel off, thought i was going to rip the tail gate in 2!!!
jim

Does it sound like the motor is trying to work?
-
no no sound at all

Fuse ?
There was a common fault with the MK5s where the wiper had a mind of its own. The fix was to replace the rear motor which implies its quite tempramental. If the fuse is all OK I would replace the motor.
If your car is still in waranty VW will do it for free.

Mine did this the other week after I washed it.
Before I got round to checking the fuse it started working again.
They might be prone to water ingress?
-
Could this be a sensor issue like there is with the front wipers when the bonnet is open?
Worth a try

i had to take mine back under warranty as the wiper would intermittently stop working - would work fine then would stop working for entire days at a time. dealer said it was a known motor fault
-
thanks for all your replies guy! i have tried another motor but still dead as a doe doe! looks like i will have to get the local dealer to have a look at it! ouuuuch!!!! ive also knackered the tailgate inner panel putting on and taking off! damn those clips are a pain in the a***!!

I thought mine had stopped working once but it turned out that the tailgate wasn't shut properly.

tailgate is slammed home but are there any sensors?

Hi guys, I'm currently having the same problem with my rear wiper and washer....works one day and not the next. Does anyone have any idea what's causing this intermittent problem? Is it worth a visit to an auto electric?
BTW out of warranty now.

As has been said, its probably the motor fault which is common problem on the MK5.

Mine stopped working for a few days then seemed to mend itsself - it has been fine for months now... Maybe see how it goes for a few more weeks before spending money on it?
