Someone has asked me & i didnt know the answer.
As the title says, what is the difference between the ED30 & Pirelli GTI'S :undecided:
-
Essentially the same car (engine wise) with different standard interior and rims.
-
Pirelli came standard with privacy glass and an armrest over the ED30
-
Pirelli only available in Reflex Silver/ Black Magic Pearl or Blue Graphite
-
Pirelli is actually a limited edition
Think it only comes in 3 door flavour too
Don't forget the tyre treads on the seats
-
what about Fahrenheit ? is that the Pirelli in europe ???
-

wrong
came in both 3 or 5, and the interior has already been mentioned
you dont get a limited edition plaque with the pirelli but you do with the Edition 30

Fahrenheit is an American special edition as far as I know.

Correct
Don't forget the tyre treads on the seats

-
Sorry but for me the edition 30 is far better looking.
-
They're two different looks for me, ones very subtle and the others not.
-
You could always get a Pirelli and put ED30 bits on it
-
Pirelli only available in Reflex Silver/ Black Magic Pearl or Blue Graphite
What about Yellow? There were yellow ones in the press, but maybe they were only available in Europe.

Yep, yellow one wasnt a colour over here in the UK.
-
Dealer in Scotland had last month had a Pirelli in Yellow

Import. . . ?
-
It was at my local stealers, now roaming around Aberdeen. Not taken with the yellowness I have to say ...
-
I have all the leaflets for the pirelli etc as i nearly bought one. As has been said the yellow was a europe colour and not listed for the UK.

And MFSW I think? I may be wrong though so don't quote me on it!

You're joking right? Those seats are amazing.
-
Mate, those are the chaviest seats ive ever seen
-
I like the seats, especially the yellow stitching. The wheels are nice too  Question to any Pirelli owners: how are the seats to sit in? Comfy?
As for chaviest seats ever, have you SEEN the Adidas mk6? The seats are a travesty.
-
Ooooh no! an Adidas MK6?
The nastyest GTI & the nastyest sports brand? lol
i bet they sell alot of those to pikeys
-
How can the seats be chavvy? No chav has:
1. Pirelli tyres
2. Suede seats with tyre prints
3. IF they had a car it wouldn't be a GTI and especially not a Pirelli edition
I've sat in the seats a few times and they are very comfortable.
-
Well they dont float my boat thats all
-
The seats are RANK ! Fact ;)
-
These are the seats from the Adidas mk6, proper chav stuff:

-
Do they do matching track suite
-
I can see that Adidads selling in other parts of Europe, but not here. The seats are not rank and we're not getting anywhere with this discussion lol. ETTO
-
mk6 above, Half leather idea good. Result=bad.
I do quite like the Pirelli seats though unlike other people.
Some Pirelli info for the original thread poster.

-
I use to know and have it wrote down somewere it was something like 246 but don't quote me on that as thats a number just floating in the back of my mind

But there was a lot of stock cars came through and were sold after that time.

The seats look much better in real life than any photos.
I wasn't sure about it at all in pictures but the car looks great - again the wheels look better in sunlight and three dimensions.
-
I like the seats in the adidas motor, I have to say look smart!! :smug:
-
The seats definitley look better in the flesh.
In fact, despite the unusual pattern, no one that I have given a lift too has actually noticed them.
I also believe about 240 were brought into the UK. I am yet to see another one.
To be fair though, most of the late black Mk5 golfs with tinted rear windows pass off as GTi's from all but the forward view.
-
220 was the official number sold.
and the Pirelli is a marmite car, you will either love the trim and alloys or hate it.
-
I hated the seats after seeing picutes but as said in the flesh they look a lot better. Still not sure about the yellow stitching though ...
-
In almost two years I have 'seen' three.
One I test drove - silver three door
Ours - black three door
One I almost parked next to - black five door
I wasn't convinced about the silver one - it looked 'flat' with silver colour matched panels and silver wheels.
The black on the other hand I liked instantly and I've never had a negative comment about the car. I'd also say only people who know to look for them notice the seats.
Still smile every time I walk over to it.

where is the plaque on ed30 as far as im aware they dont have one
if its that sticker above the glovebox. someone on here said that they produced circa 1760 ED30's but i see alot in my region and range from 07-58 plate so was wondering if that was true
From what i've heard the Pirelli owners can apperently approach VW dealership and request a plaque for steering wheel its not numbered like 25th Anniversary
-

They dont come on the car. You had to order one from VW. Where the plaque actually went was down to the individual and where they wanted to put it. If that person didnt order one then it wont have one.
-
Hmmm... Never heard anyone suggest there was a pirelli plaque.
Anyone?...
-
Im 99% sure there wasnt one for the Pirellis.
The point of the plaque on the ED30 is because VW said they were going to build 1500 of them (I think in fact more were made the sneaky Germans) where as there was no build number for the P's.

hmm yes a bit like the clio williams scenario where buyers were told it was exclusive limited run but then Renault went on to release the Williams 2 & 3 dropping the value of the original... nice!
-
and yes i was wrong for Pirellis no build no. but think it says P for pirelli on steering wheel can an owner confirm this
-
I can't think of any "regular" P users on here so you might be in for a wait.
-
It definitely doesn't, been discussed on Mk5golfgti.co.uk
-
LOL
-
I have seen one in germany that had pirelli on the steeringwheel but one i got to see in the uk only had GTI. So i don't know.
-
Make your way to the light, and you shall find out on a thread started there by a good friend of mine who owns a Pirelli.
-
It seems that the multi -function steering wheel says Pirelli but the standard wheel says GTI.
-
There is no p on the steering wheel but it does have yellow contrast stitching.
-
I can see why people are getting confused as this is a left hooker which does in fact have the "Pirelli" writing on it. From what people are saying the UK version just has the standard GTI writing you get on all models.
