Title: Skipping tracks on CD on RCD510
Post by: gizzywizzy on 10 May 2010, 22:31
Today on my way to work whilst listening to Journey's Greatest Hits my RCD510 started to go haywire, first off on track 1 it cut out before the end and jumped to track 6 then skipped back to track 2 before settling down on track 5.  All a tad peculiar has anyone else suffered from this problem?

Guess it will be a trip down to the dealership in Scarborough again

Silly question I'm sure, but is the CD scratched?

I must say that I've only played a couple of CD's on my 510, most of the time I only play my mp3'2 off my usb hard drive plugged in to the MDI thingy.  I'm sure your dealer can sort it out for you.

I have to admint, mine might not even work not tried it.  Bit like the lights, never driven it in the dark yet and to think of it the headlight washers.

I was going to ask if you had it on mix to,also if there is not a big enough gap between songs or two long a pause in the middle of a track it will assume its the end of the track and jump to the next track.I get it on one of the tracks on iron man cd by ac dc even when using the sd card it gets near the end and jumps to the next track. :undecided:

Is the skipping only occuring on the one CD or have other discs exhibited the same behaviour?

If its only the one disc then it might be worthwhile just copying the CD to a CDR on your PC and then seeing if you get the same trouble.  It could just be a badly pressed disc.

Sorry everyone feeling like a total tool at present :embarassed: I had somehow put it on to mix as suggested by one or two of you so thanks for that must admit I never gave that a moments thought.  Everything A ok again now.

Sorry mate, I think it's your CD player trying to tell you something.... I mean Journey's Greatest hits FFS.

On a serious note take it back to the VW dealership (minus the Journey CD)...
