Title: Hello there
Post by: rsrobin on 08 May 2010, 02:27
Hi there

this is my first post to say hello

I'm a 32 year old bloke that loves his hot hatches  when I was 20, pushing 21, my mum offered me her 1.0L 1988 E reg nissan micra as a 21st birthday "present". well. I couldn't get out quick enough to buy my first car - a mk2 1988 golf GTi campaign model - to stop that happening  I loved that car and kept it for years.

Finally traded her in for a mk4 golf GTi turbo. must admit, once I'd done it, i wished I'd kept the mk2 and put the money into tarting her up.

I then moved into fords. got rid of the 1.8T for a focus ST170

I then got rid of that for a focus RS, which is the one car in my life I had to own.  she's nicely modded. at the last RR she was 305bhp/345 lb.ft but that was years ago. she's had more work done recently and I'm hoping that she'll finally make between 350 and 400bhp when shes remapped  she's tucked up in my garage.

my daily drivers are a mk4 golf sdi and a mk2 focus sport. both eternaly dull but they do the job right

anyway.....

the point of joining here :smug:

I always hankered after another mk2 GTi and I bought one last night (16v big bumper model 1989 F reg) on impulse for the bargain price of £250.  she's a real s.hit box - as you'd expect for the price - but the basic chassis is sound. needs tons doing but I love her for her character already.

plan is to strip her out and drop in a 1.8T.

thought I'd say hello for now and then keep popping back for advice/help and to help others from my experiences as time goes by

Welcome to the forum

Sounds like a good project! Get a project section going in the Dub Rides, you will have to PM JV to get one up for you.
