I have heard there are two multiplugs that plug into the back of the dash console could these come loose time to time ? many thanks ?

I would guess the sender has failed.

in the fuel tank. take out the rear seat and you'll see a round metal disc, its under there. pop the plug off and bridge the pins, gauge should go up to max

I would be surprised if all those senders had failed. Fuel, Rev counter, indicator lights and temperature!

Does sound like it could be the connector loose or maybe an earth problem.

Speedo and mile counter is a mechanical connection direct from the gearbox, hence that is still working.

Interesting this, i have been having similar troubles which I have had help with.  Am i correct in thinking that if you have no illumination then this is a good sign there is no earth to the cam cover as this is where the clocks get their earth from?
