I want to put some new speakers in the boot, but dont really want them on display, iv been looking into stealth shelfs but surely they cant sound right underneath the parcel shelf, any help would be great
-
door speakers or 6x9 boxes in the boot just like a sub :)
-
from what iv seen its 6x9 mounted on a sheet of wood which is then attached to the underside of the parcel shelf, which would be great as i want the car to continue to look completely standard, but wont the parcel shelf muffle the sound?
-
there are holes in the parcel shelf too normally
the holes or whole shelf is then covered in acustic (spelling?) cloth which lets the sound travel through
hope this helps
cheers

Hi I have a stelath shelf for my mk2 ebay bargain, mine sounds amazing and Ive been told a good solid parcel shelf really improves sound quality, I highly recommend them

Got a Mk2 one for sale down Bournemouth way :afro:

get a sheet of12mm thick (minimum) MDF board from your local DIY shop, with lots of no more nails or other wood glue and some nice big clamps stick this to the underside of your existing parcel shelf.
cutt appropriate holes through shelf and board with a jigsaw, fit speakers ( making sure that fixing screws or botle go through both shelf and MDF), cover with accoustic cloth ( can be bought for about a tenner from ebay in a number of coulours) I find a strong staple gun helps for this bit..
Whole process takes no longer than a couple of hours and you can't see the speakers anymore.

that's a good solution but I bet it will flex the shelf over time so that it dips loads in the middle!
