Hi Everyone,
I have just joined this forum, I was looking for some advise!!
I have just purchased a Golf mk5 05 plate, having moved on from the mk4. I have found that i have a coolant leak, look like its from the thermostat housing/O ring area. looking back on the history it has been replaced before !. Could the O ring be replaced or is it worth while changing the housing..... Any advise would be greatfully received. Also advise on anything about the MK5 at all... Thanks

You won't know if the housing needs to replaced until you can remove and inspect it unfortunately. By that point it's a bit late if all you've bought is a replacement o-ring. If you're attempting this job yourself you should either be a mechanic or very brave/confident  I've only done it once myself and can understand why VW charge silly money to do it!

Thaks for the reply, I have now got it into a garage now to see whats what! Purchased new thermostat housing only £23 so it was worth the money to replace it after the car has been stripped to get access to it........ time will tell !
