In relation to a recent thread whereby golfvr6 said the Honest John website was not good and all the people on there are pricks (sorry experts) I have to agree.
I've been reading threads and they are unbelievably the most boring, turdfaced, arrogant nobbers i've ever had the misfortune to read about.
One guy got slaughtered coz he asked about chipping his VR6 (probably you golf vr6!!!) but i think he was joking and they all went off their heads about speed and that you shouldnt break law as it immoral blah blah blah. They all love citroens and rubbish cars that they can get a great deal on (no matter if the cars rubbish, they just want to save money no matter if it'll shed depreciation like mad). They're all about 45 with zero sense of humour and are just unbelievably dick-like.
There was this absolute mad b!tch who thought the Toyota Yaris was cool and went on like a mad surbuban mum about how precious her daughter was but no one cares. I have NEVER seen a car website like it.
And their moderators are unbelievable - this one called Mark RLBS is one massive power tripping prick. The GolfGTI moderators are fantastic in comparison.
You might want to check it out but you'll probably fall asleep reading all the dull arse responses these nobs go on about.
sorry rant over but it is an unbelievably dull forum......
-
Thank god someone else agrees with me!
Mark RLBS Is a complete nobjockey. He's a real power tripper and cuts posts to bits and acts like he's an internet policeman. Total power tripper. And if you do disagree with them (even on motoring points) they take your objection post off the thread - unbelievable! He's jsut put a post on about not knowing that a TT has a 3.2 engine now- what? call yourself knowledgeable. where have you been.
You are right about them knowing f*** all about cars. They never say what they do for a living or what their experience is but they put stuff down like they're real experts - 30 years reading haynes manuals is so true.
They even put some crap on that we should click on the adverts or lose the site. Well screw that. Honest John writes books and columns in mags and papers and makes a wedge of cash and probably more off of the website and they want us to look at ads for rip off car supermarkets to make them more money. I just dont get what they think they offer that is so good.
They're all like 45 years old, act like they never go over 70 (which of course i dont ;)) and are really knowledgeable. For an insight into how interesting they are here is a couple of current post subjects:
Jaguar Diesel Estate
Easy to stall Mondeo TDCI
Sirens at night
Opinion of Ford Ka Please
Shall i go on. Oh no i cant. i just fell asleep.....
So much for Honest John with that garage recommendation. Sounds crap. Glad we can be honest on here about bad service we receive.
Go to honest john. learn about middleclass, boring people, buying Citroen Berlingos. But dont disagree with the moderators.....
Please keep this thread going so people can learn about what a bad website is.
-
Yes the moderators on here are good people and realistic. This thread would have been pulled long time ago on that site because we used 'naughty words' and said we didnt like the moderators. Well on Honest John, as Davina says - dont say f*** or b*****!
Its so clique - like a lawn bowling club got together and all just agree with each other whilst going on about dull cars that no one cares about. I laugh especially loud when you get really dumb people post threads about getting cheap insurance and they tell them to use Direct Line or some other company that will charge anyone under 21 a fortune for insurance. When will these people learn.
And theres more to this rant. Oh yes. Theres more.
Firstly, someone put a thread on there that they thought their advice was so good that reckoned people should make doantions to them for the advice!!!! WHAT?!?! i thought thats what is so good about this site. free advice for like minded people. in fact thats what the internet is for.
secondly, they all go on about how garages are crap and that they wish they got better service, but when someone has bad service they dont allow you to say what garage it was in case they get sued (like some crappy main dealer is going to a. know about the website having its name mentioned as being bad. and b. even bother). So all people do is carry on using bad garages coz no ones got the balls to say what garage is really bad. Well done. really helped everyone there!! Very Honest. John. Not.
3. This is how dull they are. recent thread from some guy about what would you buy if you won the lottery. fair do's. Loads of responses tho about wanting to buy Citroen DS and 1930's MG's ????? what. buy a Pagani, or a Ferrari or something. You might actually live a little.
4. eMBe. What a tard.
Any more golfvr6?!!
-
www.honestjohn.co.uk. the back room, under discussion.
have a look. you'll laugh so much your balls will ache...
-
Oh yeah!
Is it me, or does that guy look like Dave Angel-Eco warrior, of Fast Show fame?
I found the thread about the stalling Mondeo really interezzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
-
Yeah i have written, but i just love disagreeing and watch them all go mental and tell me how disgusting and immoral i am to advocate using my car for fun rather than to get the most mpg from or to carry rubbish to the tip on a sunday. They are so dull.
I read something about them all meeting up. Bloody hell, i'd rather slash my wrists. I dont think there will be enough coat hooks for all the anoraks.... ;)
Honest John - So Honest he put his car on there for sale but it was so overpriced he had to drop the price by a grand....
So golfvr6 - who are your most hated members? Mine are Mark RLBS - a complete wanka. The biggest power tripping moderator i have ever seen. thinks its his site.
eMBe- tard. thats all i can say. tard.
Hootie. some chick who thinks she has all this experience coz she spent 10 minutes researching what s***e car to buy for her spoilt daughter and chose a yaris- a complete pile of cack. Now shes some queen of cars. And all she does is talk about herself - on every post.
In fact any other nobber on there who has a name that makes them think they're wacky or zany but are really dull, suburban, middle age, never have been's who think doing 82mph on the m1 at 1am is naughty, and who have to eat a bag of pork crackling with half a bitter whilst talking about the merits of diesel mondeo's versus the practicality of the citroen berlingo.
Can you tell how much i dislike em? ;D
p.s I think i'll start a website called www.honestjohnswebsiteisfulloftards.com and just list hte most annoying people. Try and remove that Mark (RLBSwanka)
-
Any one who doesnt own a VW must be a to$$er. Ill be loging onto that sight in a bit to abuse them ha ha
-
Childish - i like it!
Dynamic Dave- How Dynamic is he ?!?! Does he dynamically bore the crap out of people, or dynamically drive a really crap car? I dunno. you tell me.
And Mark RLBS- what does RLBS stand for- Real Life Bull S****er? or maybe Really Lonely Boring and Sad.
-
Put grease on a V belt :o
You are joking aren't you ???
-
Trouble is there are people out there that will read that and follow the advice..........at their peril. It'll be grease on brake discs next to prevent squealing. :P :P :P
Dave Lacey writes:-
Are you sure it's not the cambelt whining?
Try a dab of grease on the running surface of the alternator belt, that might quieten it
and then:-
.....but the dab of grease trick works in the real world and is fairly easy to administer; aiming an aerosol spray in the confined area of a belt run is sometimes very tricky!
What a prat!!!
Go on to the honest john site, technical matter and then site search, and put in :- VW Golf, Alternator Belt Tension?
Go on go and have a look and tell me what pricks (sorry experts) these people are.
-
I'm sure we've all made mistakes in the past, out of ignorance...........just hopefully not as expensive as this. :o
And what about this bloke???
Polo Gearbox Filler Plug WARNING - Phil W Thu 27 Mar 03 23:27
I have a VW Polo 1250 CL 1990 H reg. I wanted to check the gearbox oil level so I checked with the Haynes manual. It said there was a level plug and a drain plug but failed to describe where they were located and didn't give a photo or diagram. I therefore undid the most obvious candidate for the level plug - in a similar position to those on Vauxhall Cavaliers and Novas I have worked on in the past. A small amount of oil came out when it was removed so I assumed all was OK and replaced it. It seemed odd because it seemed to have a rod going into the gearbox but I assumed this was a scavenging magnet. I then found I was unable to select first or second gear and reverse was very stiff! I rang VW and they told me that there is another bolt on the front of the gearbox that looks like a level plug but actually supports the reverse shaft inside the gearbox! Apparently I'm by no means the first to make this mistake. They said the gearbox will need to come out and be repaired (?300+ at VW). Thats some mistake!
Why oh why does the Haynes Manual not warn about it when the consequences are so disasterous?
Has anyone else had to deal with this? Are there any tricks I can use to retrieve the situation without taking the box out?
I bet everyone would really want him to work on their cars!!!
-
Bet he's got a huge disclaimer somewhere............maybe its their intention to get people/vehicles off the road.
-
LOL ;D ;D ;D ;D
I've had quite a few years experience with Mk1's, Audi's and more recently Mk2's but I would never pretend to be an expert..............I'm still learning.
-
LOL ;D ;D.........I'm afraid I have to agree. ;D ;D.
I'm sure we've all made mistakes in the past, out of ignorance...........just hopefully not as expensive as this.
Yep i know what ya mean, but being honest anyone who starts removing bolts from their gearbox without knowing what they are has to be a pretty big tit really.
-
OMG :o
I'm right he's trying to get as many cars off the road as possible!
-
Oh i hate that site. I look at it from time to time just to look at the ridiculous arguements they put on there and crap advice.
A bunch of complete nobjockeys but Mark RLBS is still THE biggest turd of all. What a power tripper. check this out from a post about radar detectors (which surprisingly the guy who was wanting to know which one to buy got slaughtered) This is marks reply when a guy swore in his post and he removed the guys entire post because of it:
'There's one less now. Not much wrong with your opinions, but going that length to avoid the swear filter annoys me. Since I am not here all the time, I have to be careful who I leave in here unattended.
Your language is not welcome.
I should think that the effort of having to register a new e-mail account and using it to re-register here, assuming you bother, will help you remember that.
Mark.'
'Since I am not here all the time, I have to be careful who I leave in here unattended' WHAT???? You have to be friggin kidding me. WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?? a teacher or something. this isnt some chat room for 5 year olds. This is a forum full of 40 yr old boring men. People swear in real life. get a grip turd. (well he probably already has the Wanka). WHAT A COMPLETE TOOL.
As he said, not much wrong with the guys opinion but he cut his thread out for swearing. Unbelievable.
Mark RLBS - YOU ARE A TIT.
-
I'm with you mate. they're both a nightmare. The guys are all for the anti speeding brigade but the minute anyone is for radar detectors and maybe using their own adult judgement they call it a rant against speeding and threaten to cut the thread.
I say someone signs up and puts in a troll post and see how funny it gets. They'll go mental with really poor arguements.
f*** em all. bunch of nobs.
They're advice is so bad as well. You;re right , your advice was great they'res is so general and stupid. my car would break down in 2 seconds and my insurance would be ?1000 if i followed they're advice.
And i still hate Mark RLBS - tit.
-
Oh you put a post on there thats really just to wind them up but sounds like its a genuine dumb question. they all think you're serious and go mental - highly amusing. Something like 'Can i change the gearing on my Golf Gti to pull over 140mph as i keep getting beaten on the motorway each morning by somebody in a Focus RS' and they'll go mental saying why do you need to do 140+ etc?
-
LOL good darts one and all, I used to write on the infamous honest john site and like most of you I was booted off, I was trying to explain to one of the senile old buffers that carb icing is actually not the be all and end all of all bad running on cars. But that put a spanner in the works, the old works. You could here them all saying in unison "We don't like change here."
Imagine them having a get together, a nurse having to go round and turn the pages on their haynes manuals whilst wiping their arses. Talking about the lastest wonderful euro sh!t box like the forementioned yaris, I bet the smell of stagnent urine would be overwhelming.
The only piece of engineering they have the knowledge to understand is a f**king stannah stairlift.
-
I'm glad so many people feel this way about this rancid site. At least i know it wasnt just me.
Details of Troll and Id on its way later today VR6.....
-
Nice one 'golfvr6'.........that did make me laugh. ;D ;D ;D
-
The idea of some loony tune driving 120 miles down a motorway with flushing oil in his engine makes me laugh so much I almost follow through. The polo has only done 35,000 miles so he wants to open it up. Open it up, sh!t he'll open it up alright when a con rod goes through the block when the poor thing seizes up.
Arseholes like this shouldn't be allowed sharp scissors let alone a tool box.
-
Yep they shouldn't even be allowed keys to the car, let alone tools.
-
Hey pimpster, have you voted yet?
-
Yes mate - GAY BAR!
When i get a chance i will troll post and let you know my id. Works gone mental busy so not had a chance.
For sheer gayness check this out from a recent post on there:
We can't control fate but whatever the reason for it, when you're driving aggressively, carelessly or just plain dangerously you're putting lives at risk, friends, family and/or strangers. Imagine how devastated you'd be if your child was the victim of a speeding motorist late for a business meeting and then take a look at your speed on the way to your next appointment. Drivers usually make choices which cause accidents. Some people have no choice in the matter and their fate is in the hands of others. Think on everyone. Drive safely, love your families/children and be considerate to others at all times.
I didnt know Jerry Springer posted on the Honesttwit site?!
-
What f**king prick wrote that???
-
I am sick and tired of these old farts that write about speed being dangerous, I mean we all agree that in a residential area like a school road it would be a bit silly to cane it but we all have commonsense, we can all use our own judgement and most of us drive in a safe and courteous manner.
This senial contingent seem oblivious to the fact that speed cameras are situated to raise revenue for the fat arse government. We all have roads in our local areas that have overnight become 40mph limits when they were 60mph with a nicely situated camera at the end to catch those that haven't slammed the anchors on.
The honest join site caters for the slightly older driver, the pipe and slippers brigade, the type of person who doesn't indicate at roundabouts, doesn't have a f**king clue where they are going and instead of pulling off the road they stop right in front of you. They might have 30 years no claims bonus but they leave a trail of destruction in their wake, Innocent motorists like you and I who are out enjoying our cars.
Motoring in this day and age is an expensive business, you buy the bastard thing and have to gobble the insurance man to get cover, then pimp your arse to fill the thing up with petrol. I for one am going to enjoy driving my car and if some volvo driving, senial archers listener wants me to be considerate to him when he next cuts me up he can kiss my hairy sh!tpiece.
-
Agreed mate. the speeding thing is complete arse. If you just want to get from a - b with buggerall excitement in between buy a friggin moped. at least you wont break the law, because obviously the law is ALWAYS rights. NOT.
These guys are unreal. Even Dynamic 'arseface' Dave the moderator started telling the guy he was wrong to tell people how to drive and not speed.
I do think that these pricks are the reason why we have speed cameras in all the places they arent needed.
-
Nice one lads for keeping this thread going. Now hopefully loads more people will know how sh!t Honstjohn is. GAY BAR.

Check this one out:-
VW scirocco problems - montag Tue 12 Aug 03 17:41
Hi
Hope somebody has had this as it is driving me nuts!
Got a D reg 1800 gt Scirocco which generally purrs. However there is a totally erratic fault. Every know and again the car cuts out. As you accelerate the engine lurchs and loses power. If you dip the clutch you can keep the engine running smoothly by hitting the gas but as soon as you let of the gas the engine dies. Very easy to start afterwards but will not drive, idles ok (sometimes!). if you leave it for a minute it will start ok and drive ok! You may be able to drive it ok for 20miles then go to the local shops and it lurches.
Totally random when it happens, the car either drives perfect or not at all, normally on the same journey.
Happens slightly more often going up hills but has happened on flat and downhill.
I have replaced today:
coil
HT leads
cap
rotor arm
vacuum hoses
Has had a recent fuel pump and air filter.
RAC blokey dismantled carb and cleaned jets.
Any ideas please before I go bald!!!!
Another prick (expert) :-
VW scirocco problems - Adam Going (Tune-Up) Wed 13 Aug 03 20:09
Check that the air intake control flap (in air cleaner intake) is operating correctly. Should provide hot air to carb when air cleaner is cold, warm air only when really hot. Excess cold air can ause carb icing - even in this wheather.
CARB ICING!!!! in the middle of August, the temp only been about 30-40 degrees C. More great misleading advice. The chaps problem turns out to be a dodgy vacuum hose.

My mum wrote to honest john concerned about my masterplan which involved a Knacked out T25 and a winters snowboarding in the alps , She probably was expecting some good advice , He poo pooed my idea told her I would freeze to death if my van ever got me there, bless her.
She made me some curtains gave me a blanket or two and let me on my way , The old brick made it Italy two years in a row and finally shook it big ends clean off comming back the second year, So Honest John is a cock and doesnt know what he is talking about, "THAT VAN CHANGED MY LIFE "

What about that time before your car interfaces with some obstruction they seem to last longer than the alloted few seconds.
Oh yeah! never mind your friends you could wait around for ever get a last minute deal for a week take some weetabix and a few back issues of pvw lock yourself in the room of a night ready to wreck yourself the next day,
Your mates will be playing catchup after that.
