Title: My dealership broken into
Post by: squirrelGTi on 03 May 2010, 22:00
Sad to report another theft/break involving VW's!

My GTi turned up at my dealer last week and i was going to pop in today to take a look before i take delivery. Emailed my guy to see if all was ok, and he told me that the place was broken into last night. So worried about the condition of my car i thought i should call him up.

He said that they got in and broke into the box where the keys are held and took a BMW to smash down the gate. He said no VW's were taken and the police had sectioned a part of the dealership off. Anyway, i'm worried that he's keeping zipped incase something happened to my car and they were going to get it repaired. If it's been damaged in any way, i'm not keen on taking delivery!

Basically i'm going to go up there unannounced and take a look at my car. I'm sure they won't be able to get my car fixed if it needs body work that quickly?

I don't want to name the dealership at the moment, but i can say it's in the South East.

I really hope my car hasn't been damaged or pinched!!!! Keep your GTI's under a watchful eye guys. This is happening far too much at the moment!

I must apologise but there is far too much suspense in this thread.  Keep us posted!

On a more serious note I hope everything is ok with your car. After having waited so long for it to be built and then delivered this really is a nasty turn in the road.

How awful.
Will happen more often as the country goes through really hard times.
The worse is yet to come as the cutbacks will start after the election, thereby causing rising levels of unemployment and poverty
We will all have to work until we drop!

Being a bit dramatic aren't you and looking on the pessimistic side!! Surely they would have said if your car had been damaged or stolen, I mean what are the chances?

Best of luck anyway.

The reason why i am suspicious is because his email and story over the phone don't match up. Email said it was done over night and then when i called he said that some guys kept them busy in the showroom and then others went around the back.

I'd rather not say where the dealer is for the moment, because IF criminal ganges are using forums to hunt down vehicles, i'd rather not say where my unused GTi is right now.

Must be someone on here, I mean, they refused to use a VW to smash the gate!

In all seriousness, though, I hope all is well with your order.

Absolute porky-pies! You are quite right to question his honesty.

 I'm probably being a bit paranoid, but i really don't wanna have to go though that wait again.

It does sound a bit fishy to me. It might be nothing, but after reading what's happened to some poor sods here, it could happen to any of us.

Just been to see the car, everything is fine. They would have had to move 4 other cars before they got to mine.

Roll on the 25th June.

I'm going to be away end of may-june. Car wasn't due until Sept 1st, so it came as a bit of a surprise.
