Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have just bought a 89 'G' gti 8v, when I turn the key in the door locks it feels like and sounds like there should be central locking.
Did they even have central locking? And if they do are there any simple reasons why it's not working and that maybe I can put right?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Look in the boot, on the left hand side I think.. if there's a little green square unit then that's your central locking pump.
It could be that there's a universal CL kit fitted though.. Could take the door card off to check :)

in the boot under the n/s rear lamp cluster you should see a black foam box with a rubber strap round it if you car has central locking. its the compressor thingy inside to operate all the locks.
easier than takin the door panels off

I can't see anything in the boot under the rear light units. I'll have to take the door card tomorrow and have a peek.
