For my 3 door mk 3 GTi
I have two choices using kit I already have.
1. I have a set of Orion components to use up front using their own crossover to replace the factory speakers.
2. I have a set of replacement drivers for the doors (make unknown as the sticker on the rear is missing but I think they are JBL) which would work with the existing wiring and factory tweeter. No extra filter/crossover to be fitted.
Has anyone tried to reinforce the front door speaker housing with deadening material and fill the enclosure with wadding to good effect?
Once the install is complete then these speakers will be capped to 80htz
The rear speakers will be removed.
I intend to fit a sub in the boot but has anyone fitted shallow mount subs in the rear doors/sections to free up boot space?

Unless the sub is a free air item, designed to work in infinite baffle; there are a number of subs on the market specifically designed to be run from parcel shelves.
