Title: hi all. newbie here
Post by: skelt on 02 May 2010, 19:45
hi, just bought a mk2 golf so thought i'd join up.

its a 86 c reg 1.8 8v gti but someone has put a 1.8 16v in it a good while back as it hasnt been on the road since 1999.
i've found 3 holes in the sills and 1 where the drainage pipe is for the sunroof.
it needs a good bit of work but i want to get it back on the road.

i'll get some pics online when i get a chance and maybe you people could tell me if its gonna be worth my time and money or should i put the engine etc in  my 1.6 mk2 jetta.

maybe speak to you's soon

I'll wait for the pictures. The thing with mk2s is that as long as the body is good everything else can be fixed.
Be interesting to see if they have changed anything else on the car bar the engine. The suspension, brakes, cooling and a fair few other parts are different on the 8v to the 16v.

You need to open a photobucket account and then load them up in 800 x 600 format (So they fit the screen size for this site) and then post them between the [img] brackets.. (less the space)..

HTH & Welcome...

That body work looks pretty tired. The best condition parts in the photo are the steel rims!
