I was tanking V-power only cause it is 96-97 Ron and heard stories about Horsepower-loss..so sticked with that....not good enough.....
The latest is that I should tank "BP-Ultimate only" since that is 98 Ron...(so told by a kind of race-driver guy)......all others can give you a loss uptill 30 BHP....serious business eh...
What techno knows the settings and reaction of our computer on board towards fuel and can give advice..........
-
I thought it was the other way round, BP ultimate=97ron, V-Power=99ron, could be wrong though!
-
Boys, read my new thread please.
-
If I did double so sorry.....but you agree it is rather important........link?

V-power is 98 ron here in the UK anyway Erik
BP is 97 ultamate
-
Remember things are different in mainlain Europe
-
Not to want to start a discussion but it MUST be different in the Netherlands since when I tank Shell V-Power it is stated at the station "V-Power 95" and at the PB-station "BP Ultimate 98"......
I even looked it up on the internet although they stated Shell V-power 95...in real life it is 96-97.Ron.....confused??....so I stopped with Shell and am searching for BP....a bit uncomfortable I agree. :undecided:
How about you guys....surely you are not buying a fast car and give away horsepower....and this is it because I saw a car perform bad and good on a rollerplatform to registrate performance...with 95 and 98 Ron....
With the MK V I could sometimes clearly feel a peformance difference....

Erik, if you follow the link below, the Shell spec sheet indicates a guarantee of 99RON for V Power [It's a 2006 document but I wouldn't have thought it has changed.

yeah I know different Shell sites different specs ...and why do they write down (In the Netherlands) in red letters on the yellow logo at the actual pump itself
"Shell V-power 95" ...
It should read "Shell F-power".....as in F&ck....
-
It's the same here in Norway. V-power 95 and they don't mention anywhere that it's more then 95. I'm confused. :(
-
Just filled it with Total 97 as im still running it in, last fill was premium 95 and averaged 29.6 mpg (calculated for brim to brim fill) on my daily commute so not too bad considering i have to go into and out of a main city over the river which is a bottle neck.
-
I used to put 95 in before the remap, but since then I've been using 98 only. I did try 95 once and there was a really noticeable difference in power. I can well believe the 30hp drop your acquaintance mentioned.

I wonder if 99 is better than 98 "performance-wise"...considering the parameters of the car are set for 98.....

Car only done 300 miles. Did a 90 mile round trip today on A roads and some twisty B roads sticking to the speed limits. Got 40.1 mpg using 95 ron which I'm happy with.

I would imagine so. The car is able to adapt to the different types of fuel you can put in it.
