Title: help about water needed please

i took my temperature sender out to have a looky at it, and loads of water poured out. i wassnt expecting it,
and in the shock moment of putting the sender back in, the rubber gasket fell out, so i managed to replace it,
but lost a fair amount of water, replacing the gasket. is it just water from the expansion tank that i have lost
as the level has gone down a fair amaount.

do i now need to just top up the expansion tank?

next time release the pressure 1st by unscrewing the cap
