Well the day has come, finally off to the Isle of Wight with DH and Danny_p to swap the engines over. Leaving tonight and returning Monday night, so we have 3 full days to do this in. I've got all my bits ready, Danny should be making his way down shortly arriving near the ferry departure time and DH will be waiting at the other end with his trailer, ready to load the 16v and take it to the barn. Hopefully this shall all go smooth with no major problems, by Sunday the engine should be in and running hopefully, and Monday will be tidying up/tuning/testing/rest day. I'll be posting up pics on my facebook page so those who have me as a friend will be able to see the progress and updates throughout the weekend, for the rest I will update my build thread with plenty of pics and comments sometime next week.
National Mk2 meet at the Billing Aquadrome next weekend, I'll be mooching around there so if you are going too come and find me!
Wish us luck!

Good luck hope it all goes well.

I don't understand why you need to catch the ferry? Or do you have your own allotted slot at the docks
-
He hasn't yet attained his captaincy licence.

F*cking, bloody sodding tosser 8V Golf3 rubbish
I have crushed one Golf3 today.
Another has fork-based lift marks in the roof.
Andres' Golf has 'NO LIFT' written in dust on the boot window and side windows, just in case I get forgetful.
Should be done end of tomorrow, despite his best attempts to prevent us completing the job

There are some risks associated with what's happening at the moment:

There is also a pond about 50metres from where that photo was taken.
I've left Danny with Andres today.
I'll let you know if either Andres, or his Golf has been placed in the pond later....

There's only a Golf3 owner underneath the Golf3 and besides the motor in the tractor is off and no one's in it.
Golf3 is back on ferry away from the Island, with a running engine in it. There's no power steering on it.
Note to Golf3 owners: Citroen suspension, brake and steering fluid is not suitable for your power steering system.
-
I am sure from another thread that mk3's use mineral fluid in the pas system.
-
but lhm is mineral fluid.....

Yep that is what I am thinking.
-
went pritty much like.
opened bottel of pas fluid start to pour in. stoped thinking that don't look feel or smell like any normal hydralic oil of any flavor. it bears more resemablance to brake fluid probaly a bad idea to carry on
-
I'm back home, got the 12:35 ferry back. Driving with no PAS is a bloody pain! Almost straight lined a few corners over at the IOW.
Engine seems to be running very well, idles a lot better now and pulls so much better, why didn't I turn to 16v power earlier?
Need to put the rear shocks and exhaust on today and refit the interior, then give the whole car a mighty clean! Thanks in a million DH and danny, you guys really know what you're doing!
Lots of pics and a nice write up to come later on today.

Red sh*t came out.
Green stuff wasn't going in.
