use an existing seat belt point as that is a good solid earth
just make sure you rub it back to bare metal for a good contact
you will need to use a large ring terminal as the bolt has a 10mm thread

I'M putting the amps at the other end of the boot back light end so no were near the seat belts mate

the floor of the boot is a good point
sand down the paint so its bare metal
dril into the floor (make sure there isnt anything underneath first!)
then put in your self taper
did mine the other day...works a treat

don't just drill a hole and put a self tapper in it will eventually work loose
if you look behind the carpet trim on either side of the boot there are bolts with a nut on use one of them
if you do decide to drill a hole do so but use a captive nut in the floor
you would need a captive nut tool but this effectively rivets a thread into the boot floor and you can then bolt your earth point to that

I have a Mk3 but similar set ups in all cars, i use a bolt off the rear light which is attached to the frame of the car,
I have a small adapter that the earth wire slides into, then the bolt tightens on top of it to make a solid connection
Could give that a try if you don't want to drill holes and the like :)
