Title: Some painting help please =D
Post by: Litfan666 on 28 April 2010, 15:38
after deciding to respray my bonnet after some horrendous fading. i then decided a few rust spots, my new grille and the bootlid are in need of spraying too..
So first question is where is a good place to get some paint mixed up?
Second, whats the best way to spray an abs plastic grille? is it a case of sanding, primer, spray?

Also i have never done this before so you can give me advice as if i were a child hahahaha

I wouldn't contemplate painting that bonnet unless it was stripped back to bare metal! the red pigment has deteriorated so far, that it may cause problems with fresh paint, micro blistering, matting, are common problems that may be encountered, and could be a false economy to cut corners....

any motor factors or car paint place should be able to do a decent colour match, most places allow for age of paintwork etc so normallly bang on.
