Hi guys, i reckon a good few more mk5 boys have these than the mk6 boys so thought I'd look here for advice...
I currently have the Forge Diverter Valve on my GTI. I'm running a stage 1 map putting out about 260 bhp for arguments sake.
I've been reading up some more about my DV and it seems some folk are saying they can cause a power loss. Has anyone experienced this or noticed any differences since having it on/off?
I've also read that some folk say you need the DV from forge if your'e running more power but I don't think I'm running an excessive amount of power for the OEM part (remembering that the mk6 OEM was improved over the standard mk5 part).
Any thoughts greatly appreciated...

From what I've read the piston dv fitted in the tsi has no issues with boost and is more responsive than the forge version. Get the oem part back on :cool:

Sorry its not a Forge DV - it is a Forge space valve. The OEM part is still on but the spacer valve fits in between it. I don't expect it to be causing a problem.

the forge spacer valve does not have any performance gains it just gives that blow off sound, some like it some dont..
regarding the dv valve, you will have to check what revision you have - G is the older type found on cars 07 onwards which has been known to fail, D is the new oem piston valve which is alot more robust and so far I believe none have failed even when running 400 bhp+. if you have the new tsi engine as found in the mk6 then it is not guaranteed you will have the new D piston type valve as some in the usa are still reporting having the G valve in 2010 cars
you will need to check, on the ed30 it is conveniently located at the front of the engine bay but not sure on the mk6
i am running the forge and its a nice bit of kit, imo it holds boost a slightly better than the D valve which I had on before. though the D valve is only £45 compared to £100+ for forge

Thanks James... I've had a look and I defo have the G. I was worried more in case there was scope for a boost leak caused by the Spacer Valve itself. Here's a simple diagram.
before installation:
TURBO EXIT --------------------------OEM VALVE
after installation:
TURBO EXIT --------- SPACER VALVE--OEM VALVE
I was worried in case my adding in of the Spacer Valve to the system would cause any boost leak. Is the Spacer Valve likely to cause a boost leak at that point in the system? Or more shortly, is my car likely to be any slower due to the Spacer Valve?

Dude, I'd seriously get rid off the spacer and get an OEM revision D valve.
My original DV wasn't even broken and i noticed a definate difference when the revised part was fitted.
£40.39 + VAT I paid for it :afro:

Spacer valves have been known to cause running issues with the TFSi. Could possibly be the same with the TSi :smiley:
OEM rev D diverter valve is a piston type and just as good as the Forge (if not better!). No issues with them whatsoever that I have heard of.
If you want more sound, go for an open cone intake, which will give you a better sound than the spacer :cool:

Just ordered a carbonio air intake system. Should be here next week sometime. I'll fit that and if it gives a decent noise then it's off with the Forge Spacer Valve :wink: thanks for the help guys.

That wont really give off much of a noise. If you really want a louder noise then you need what Hurdy said which is an open cone intake. I've got that intake on mine and it isnt really that loud tbh, that might because all I can hear is Milltek :undecided:
