Title: Chemical Guy's JetSeal 109
Post by: BJD on 26 April 2010, 22:28
Thinking of buying some JetSeal 109 from waxamomo.co.uk, was wondering a good wax to go with? Products i'll be using before hand: Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild, Bilt Hamber Clay, AG SRP, JeatSeal 109...then a wax?
Is JetSeal needed? or would a good wax be fine? Any suggestions, comments appreciated.

jetseal is very good, its a sealant so yes its a very relevant product it provides very good protection from uv rays which over time damage your clearcote and paint,it also stops contaminents bonding to the surface and corroding.

wax wise id suggest:
 dodojuice purpe haze,
rainforest rub,
bluevelvet,
supernatural,

collinite 845,
collinite 476s,
collinite 915,

megs mirror glaze#16

yep collinite waxs are highly durable but lack the wet look finish imho.

+1  for the purple haze purchase

I read a review of JS109 a couple years ago.  As a durability test, it was used on a set of factory painted wheels; on a Mitsubishi EVO, if I recall correctly.  The results of a simple rinse, after a month of brake-dust build-up and road debris, was incredible.  It's beading ability was only slightly diminished and the wheels looked freshly detailed after only a rinse.  As sealants go, it's among the most durable I have ever used.  I've been using it ever since I read that review.  Wish I could find it, but it's been too long.  I forgot what forum it was in.

I jetseal 109'd my alloys weekend before last.  Dead easy to do - if time consuming to remove, clean, seal and re-fit x 4.  But!  This weekend a quick brush with the end of the bucket has brought them up clean again!

I mean I used the last of the soapy water and the wheel brush to clean them off - rather than the wheel cleaner goo.

Its ok - i've had a second cup of tea now!

Jetseal 109 & purple haze pro arrived today! Can't wait to use them, hopefully this weekend.

Waiting on - Autosmart Tardis Tar & Glue Remover and Bilt Hamber Clay Bar, to ensure clean paintwork prior to application.

Will i need to apply a polish before Jetseal, i have AG SRP?

I used SRP and worked OK for me.

I know it only hides inperfections, but aslong as they are sealed afterwards, should be ok until you strip everything off and start again?

I went for;
Born to be mild             - shampoo
Bilt hamber                  - clay
BTBM again                  - shampoo
AG SRP                        - polish / filler
Poorboys wet look mirror - Glaze ?
Jetseal 109 x 2             - sealer
Collinite 845 x2             - wax

Then washed in BTBM shampoo next weekend and stuck another layer of the collinite stuff on..

Lots of work but shines and just needs quick rinse and dry to bring it all back, 3 weeks on, still shiny after just water..

I'd agree that Dodo are fantastic waxes (used most of them and it is all down to budget and colour as to which you choose) but I personally have not used JetSeal before.  It sounds a bit like overkill using both and I'd want to check first (if it was me) with Dodo that their wax will bond to a surface that has been JetSealed.  Some sealants like OptiSeal are fine to put before a wax but others like Nanolex are not.

Dodo waxes offer better durability if the paint if properly prepared with their Lime Prime pre wax cleaner.  2-3 coats of wax should keep your ride protected for several months.  I'd leave a day between coats to allow to cure.

Hope this helps

jetseal is applyed for uv/contaminent protection and dodo waxs go over the top of it fine with no bonding issues;)

The car was bought brand new and he was checking the thickness of the layers of paint with some tool and ended up putting something like close to 50 layers of wax. WTF that is anal as you like
