Him,
My MK5 2005 GTI DSG took 10 Miles today from leaving home to get up to normal temperature of 90C. Is this correct?, Surely up untill then im going to use more fuel?. I had been driving for 15 Minutes, 10 Miles average speed of 35MPH, just a normal drive to work.
Could someone shed some light on this for me please.

Yes.

That's engine temp, oil temp will take longer!
Mine warms up in about 8 mins on the motorway at 70mph - circa. 8 miles.

Sounds normal to me. Big engine to warm up. Fiancee's 1.2 polo takes less than half the time the GTI does to warm up ...

OK, cool thanks.
Was going to change the thermostat but i'll leave it now then.
it's only 12 miles to work, so barley warms up

As above. I have a 7 mile journey each way to work & during the cold spell at the end/start of the year only ever just got around the 3/4 mark on the gauge.
